Cabarete Windsurfing Competition
Pablito Guzman`s Cabarete Classic is the DR`s top windsurfing competition, which was held on September 2nd-4th, 2016. It is the largest gathering of windsurfers of the North Coast, now in its 10th anniversary. More than 80 competitors from all over the world have joined this event in Cabarete, from countries such as Australia, USA, France, UK, Switzerland, Venezuela and Australia.
• The Cabarete Classic is a 2-day event where competitors take part in race categories and of “freestyle” of all ages and abilities.
• Categories include: Mini-juniors; Juniors; Slalom and Formula in Sports class and Open class; Women Slalom and Freestyle competition.
• The Cabarete Classic incorporates the Team Aquatic Sports Pablito Guzman, sponsored in part by Vela Windsurfing, Carib Wind Center, and many more. The team is comprised of disadvantaged youth in local public schools.
• The event is open to runners of any age, gender and nationality. No prerequisites.
While the Cabarete Classic is primarily a windsurfing competition, event festivities will not end after sunset. Every night, the programming will continue with special dinners, concerts, and other events for runners, for sponsors, their families and members of the press. Cabarete has world class wind conditions that make it ideal for windsurfing and other related sports. Pablito Guzman is a very experienced windsurfer and kiteboarder that created the event to help disadvantaged kids of the local community. Many local entrepreneurs support this initiative, which makes it one of the top competitions in the North Coast of DR.
